While taking a tour through Idaho Steel, the tour guide pointed out a myriad of food processing equipment. After the tour, the guide (who manages company quality) shared something that's always stuck with me:

​

"We're not in the business of creating food processing equipment. We're in the business of creating efficiencies. Our welders' weld, and our designers' design, but their job — everyones' job — is to produce efficiencies."

​

Efficiency is at the heart of business acumen — it can make you more competitive and profitable. Even seemingly small efficiencies can have a bigger impact on the big picture than you might first anticipate.
